recently i've been falling in love with the wide range of sounds that the Kendhang Ciblon can produce...its so versatile and beautiful. LOLX i might even say that the 'tak' sound of the ciblon is like the prata man's dough-slapping on the metal board haha. on 'Now Playing' u can hear the ciblon carrying out its virtuostic solo line in the first 4 minutes...


by the way yes i know its a long time since i blogged. nothing much to blog about really..the holidays are fun but monotonous. well this extra-long hols will end soon...skoo starts again on th 23rd of july, monday.

i'm going to start on a new piece of music soon...may be used for the upcoming august performance and/or examinations in november. it'll be about some singaporean stuff...and it'll be composed for a mix of western and non-western elements. A Tenor/Baritone vocal solo, Javanese Gender (Bem and Barang) + Slenthem, Chinese Ruan, and Western Double Bass. well i havent actually started...but i'm waiting for the libretto (lyrics). I've passed that gruesome job (laughs; not really gruesome but poems are not my thing) to Daryl Chan, a very poetic and drama-influenced guy studying in AJC. it's due this sunday...hope i'll have a wonderful poem to set music to.
