It's Over.

Mr Leonard Tan said: The days of band directors screaming and shouting at students, blowing their tops every rehearsal, slamming doors...are fast disappearing.

With protective parents and a conditioned society...a teacher these days cannot afford to be overly nasty to students anymore...especially if refers to students taking individual lessons. As a teacher one could lose his or her job very very quickly if the harsh methods are always used! Leonard Tan told me once: If two people have the same qualifications and the same credibility, but if A treats boss nicely and B doesnt, who will boss employ?

The answer is obvious. And it definitely pays to be a nice person anyway! When you scold excessively, you tire yourself out, feel bad after that, and worse, the students will hate you! When you are nice to others...people will always remember you for being such a pleasant person to work with! As Jesus said: Treat your enemy as you would your brother. Well I definitely dun advocate making enemies...but all the same treat everyone nicely and they feel good, you feel good too! It's a mutual feeling when people treat each other well. :D
